Keynote Webinar

Presented by National Research Center & Polco

Empowering Community Wellbeing and Recovery Through Data-Driven Decision-Making

Now, more than ever, government staff and leaders need to hear from the community to help create a new path for COVID-19 recovery.

But how can governments and residents work together during recovery and beyond? What are the key messages residents want decision-makers to hear? What are the questions governments should be asking about reopening? What are the priorities of residents when it comes to servision adjustment and resource allocation? How will governments measure the impacts of their recovery efforts?

This free Polco / National Research Center (NRC) Keynote Webinar will discuss how local governments can make better community decisions needing to be made over the next months and years. We know the answers are not simple and may have ramifications for the long term. However, the good news is that understanding resident opinion can provide policy makers with data to inform, defend and evaluate these crucial decisions.

Join NRC/Polco researchers as part of the Alliance for Innovation (AFI) Transforming Local Government (TLG) virtual conference to discuss the best ways to survey residents. Now, especially, is the time for local governments to bring community voices into making informed and effective recovery strategies.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Understand the importance of government-resident partnerships in uncertain times
  • Identify the best methods to engage residents during and after COVID-19
  • Learn how to use resident surveys, including The National Community Survey (The NCS), to shape plans, policies and budgets
  • Discover how the right survey tools can be used to assess the impacts of recovery efforts and identify the most successful programs
  • See how the federal CARES Act can fund survey research related to pandemic recovery

Keynote speaker Michelle Kobayashi is a thought-leader in the field of survey research and evaluation, and has written numerous books and articles on the subject. She is a community survey expert with experience working in local government. She travels the country to speak professionally and lead workshops about resident surveys, public-sector employee surveys, strategic planning and more. Kobayashi has led the innovation efforts of National Research Center for more than 25 years, and keeps Polco / NRC at the cutting edge of the survey industry.
